Our first cooperation partner Felix Höhn – Weingut Höhn (Franconia, Germany)

I am Felix Höhn, a young winemaker from Franconia, a region characterised by limestone soil, steep hillside vineyards along the river Main and a deep-rooted winemaking tradition. Where my grandparents once planted grapes, today I run Weingut Höhn, a small family winery now in its third generation. Our aim is to create authentic wines with terroir character, with a modern approach that reveals the flavours of our homeland.

My journey in the world of wine started early – with the earth under my fingernails and curiosity in my heart. After learning to be a winemaker, I wanted to understand wine more deeply – from the vine to the glass. So I went to the University of Geisenheim, where I studied viticulture and oenology. But in winemaking, knowledge is not enough – you have to be able to smell, taste and observe.

My path took me further afield – to South Tyrol, where the mountain air and the elegance of the Alps give the wine a distinct purity, and to New Zealand, where I discovered the lightness and precision of the new world. These experiences changed my perspective on nature, sustainability and craft.

Back in Franconia, I knew I wanted to combine the best of both worlds: my family traditions and my experiences abroad. Today, we create wines that reveal the character of our limestone soil – pure, precise, mineral, with real character and soul.

Our philosophy is simple: nature is our most important partner. Although we are not certified organic, we consistently follow the principles of sustainable farming – no herbicides, no synthetic fertilisers. Instead, we encourage biodiversity with flowering interplantings and respect the soil. Some of our vines are over 60 years old, and they give our wines depth, structure and a sense of provenance.

Our winery focuses on Silvaner, the most traditional grape variety in Franconia, as well as the Burgundian grapes Chardonnay, Weissburgunder and Grauburgunder. They embody elegance, minerality and precision, perfectly revealing the character of our limestone terroir.

With each harvest I try to find a balance between craft and flair, between tradition and innovation. My aim is to make the taste of Franconian limestone internationally recognisable in distinctive, small boutique wines with provenance, craftsmanship and soul.
